how hologrammer.co.uk handles your information

Who we are

Hologrammer is run by Rapid Agentic Development Ltd, the data controller for the information described here.

What we collect

Almost nothing. There is no account, no sign-up, no contact form and nothing to send us. The only personal information we hold is:

• Your IP address, written to our web server's ordinary access logs alongside the page or file requested, the time, and your browser's user-agent string. This is the standard record any web server keeps in order to serve pages and stay secure.

That is the complete list. We do not ask for your name, your email address or anything else, because there is nowhere on this site to give them to us.

What we do not do

Hologrammer uses no cookies, no tracking scripts and no third-party services. Every file the page loads comes from our own server, so no other company learns that you visited. We do not track you, profile you, advertise to you, or make any automated decisions about you.

Our own web server counts visits by reading its own logs, on our own machine. That is the whole of our analytics. It puts nothing on your device, reads nothing from it, involves no one else, and does not follow you to any other site.

Your words and your digits stay with you

The hologram is worked out entirely inside your browser. What you type into it is never sent to us:

• YOUR TEXT. The words you type are made into a hologram on your own device. They never reach us, and we cannot see them.
• FIND IN π. The digits you look for, such as a birthday, are searched for inside your browser, in a copy of π's digits it has already downloaded. They never reach us.
• SAVE stores your settings, including any words you typed, in your own browser on your own device. It never reaches us. Press RESET, or clear your browser's data for this site, to remove it.
• A SHARE link carries the recipe for your hologram inside the link itself, in the part after the #. If the hologram is of your own words, the link carries those words too. Browsers never send that part to a server, so we never see what you share, or know that you shared anything. But anyone who has the link can read the words in it, and so can the email or messaging service you send it through, so share it only with people you want to read it.
• SAVE PICTURE makes a picture of the hologram inside your browser and saves it straight to your device. Nothing is uploaded.
• A message someone shares with you is their words, not ours. The page says so when it opens one, and only ever draws it as a hologram.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We rely on legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).

• To keep the site running and secure. Server logs are how we see that pages are being served correctly, diagnose faults, and identify attacks or abuse. Our legitimate interest is operating and protecting the service, which Recital 49 of the UK GDPR expressly recognises.
• To count visits. Our server compiles statistics from those same logs, on the same machine: how many visits, and to which pages. Our legitimate interest is knowing whether the site is used and working well. Nothing is placed on your device for this, and no one else is involved.

We do not ask for your consent, because a web server cannot answer a request without receiving the address to answer it at, and a consent request you could not meaningfully refuse would not be real consent. You can object at any time; see your rights below.

Who else sees it

Our hosting provider necessarily processes the logs in the course of running the server they sit on. Nobody else. We do not sell your information, share it for marketing, or pass it to anyone else unless the law requires it.

Where your information is held

On our own server in the United Kingdom. We do not transfer your information outside the UK, so none of the safeguards that apply to overseas transfers are needed here.

How long we keep it

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Object to our use of your information. Because we rely on legitimate interests, you can object at any time and we will stop unless we have compelling grounds not to.
• Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
• Have it corrected if it is wrong.
• Have it erased, or ask us to restrict how we use it.

In practice, an IP address in a log is difficult for us to connect to you as a person, and we do not try to. To act on a request about a log entry we would usually need you to tell us roughly when you visited and from which address, and we will not ask you for more information than that.

The right to data portability does not apply here, as it covers information processed on the basis of consent or a contract rather than legitimate interests.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or by calling their helpline on 0303 123 1113.

Changes

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this notice and the date at the top of it.
